Why the certificate of origin matters
The 5% general rate only applies when you can't show the furniture was made in China under the ChAFTA rules of origin. Ask your supplier for the ChAFTA certificate before the goods ship; your broker lodges the claim. Wood products also go through biosecurity checks on arrival, so ask your broker about treatment certificates.
